Tall Ship Team Sailing Picture Gallery Develop Leadership and Teamwork skills through a work experience on board a 131 feet Sailing Vessel. Tall Ship Team Sailing programs are structured adventure expeditions integrated with professional Experiential Learning facilitation by the Outside Group, Inc. and the seamanship and technical skills instruction by the Ocean Classroom Foundation. The courses yield a powerful, individual, group and organizational experience upon which participants can build a sense of self, and confidence in their ability to learn as a team. The Challenges of seafaring are direct and powerful. As full participants in the ship's operation, students are invigorated, excited, challenged, and engaged in their education. They own their achievements in a way that is rare in modern society. On board a sailing ship, this strength of experience occurs in the context of a close and well-defined society. As a member of the crew, a student quickly learns that success depends on teamwork, and that teamwork depends on mutual trust, respect and effective communication. All of these combine to enhance an academic curriculum which runs concurrently with the operation of the ship. Courses of study are designed to take advantage of the sea and the immediacy of the student's experience.
